FOREWORD - SPECIAL ISSUE WIRELESS COMMUNICATION
In recent years, the emergence of broadband applications has propelled a significant progress on software and hardware techniques for optical communication systems and networks. While highly successful in many commercial deployments, those technologies have a long way to improve and many challenges to face. This special issue intends to bring such techniques in the field and promote new methods that may prove useful for further research in this area.
Contributions cover a number of varied areas, including core wireless network technologies and applications, antennas, digital transmission systems and related applications.
As editors of this special issue, we would like to thank all the authors for their contribution and all reviewers for their efforts to ensure high quality publications. As special acknowledgment we would like to thank Dr. João Paulo Miranda (formerly at CPqD), who acted as guest editor during the initial process of this special issue.
