MONO-OBJECTIVE OPTIMIZATION FOR DIRECT DETECTION OPTICAL OFDM TRANSMISSIONS IN SHORT-RANGE LINKS

Abstract

The study presented in this paper is dedicated to the employment of genetic algorithms in parameters optimization of direct-detection optical orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (DDO-OFDM) systems in short-range links. Simulation results of system transmissions in optical back-to-back (B2B) configuration and through 20 and 40 km of standard single-mode fiber (SSMF) with optimized parameters suggest the appliance of the proposed mono-objective algorithms. Experimental transmission of a 3.56 Gb/s system over 40 km of uncompensated SSMF was achieved.
