Abstract

The model for the electromagnetic wave backscattering from leaves with complex dielectric permittivity is developed in the paper. The model is mainly based upon the inverse technique of the measured data. The explicit parameters for the complex dielectric permittivity of leaves are the dry-matter fraction of the leaf and the permittivity of saline water. The backscattering coefficients are based on the integral equation method. The backscattering coefficients with the variations of complex dielectric permittivity of leaves are shown in this paper. For evaluating the model availability of the complex dielectric permittivity of leaves we also show the backscattering coefficient of model prediction and measurements from the leaves in this paper.
